Aphelion Cowl is knit in the round. It is a quick and easy knit. The pattern includes knotted openwork. The finished stitch pattern looks complicated but is very simple with an easily remembered 4 stitch repeat. It would be an ideal first lace project.

The finished cowl can be worn as one long loop, or twisted over the head twice to give a snug cowl.   A size 4.5mm/US 7 circular needle is recommended.
