Start with just a few stitches and work this piece sideways as a simple asymmetrical triangular shawl. After binding off, the shawl is seamed to become a cowl.

Kristina says, "I think I invented this way of making a shawl into a cowl, which a rather strange, because it is so easy to do. If you want a shawl instead, just work a larger piece.

The stitch pattern contains many double lines that run in parallel, for me they remind that a real friendship binds people together, doesn't even matter how rarely we meet. The cowl is also a very fast knit if you want a gift for a friend."

It is very easy to adjust the size of the cowl, either by working a different number of pattern repeats or by adjusting the circumference of neck opening when seaming. Customization notes also suggest how to work a cowl or shawl with all over pattern, without the garter body.
