When my friend, Rita, gifted me with some beautiful yellow cotton yarn I started swatching right away. After a little fooling around, I remembered a sweater pattern I had begun years ago with a wool yarn. This side-to-side sweater was fun to work on, and I decided it would be pretty in yellow cotton.
Unfortunately, as I later learned, seed stitch in cotton is known to grow! And the sweater ended up too big for me, but fit my friend, Karen, perfectly. As far as I know she is still wearing it.

Three yarns--the red was a fine mercerized cotton I had on a cone, the green is Calypso DK that I won at TKGA in July, and the purple was a purchase. They were all slightly different weights; the red is knit doubled. Size 5 US needle. Finished this in Sept. of 2006, on vacation in Nova Scotia. I found the perfect buttons in a tiny knitting shop in Cape Breton.
