My most-used wheel, an old Louet S75, accompanies me to my weekly Tuesday spinning group. I also have a Jensen Tina II, a double-treadle Canadian production wheel, an antique walking wheel, and a very small antique parlor *sweetheart* wheel with a heart-shaped table that my husband and I rescued from an antique shop in Straasbourg, France.
After a visit to the wheel collection at the Textile Museum (now in Lowell, Ma), where we photographed several similar wheels, I sent the little wheel and photos to Ron Anthoine, in OR, who did a wonderful job of restoring it, even making a part to replace the missing flyer. I had thought it would be a pretty little conversation-piece, but to my surprise it is also a really functional wheel, and fun to use.
